Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The police have arrested a youth in connection with the murder of a tribal girl student studying in class 9 of Old Malda. The name of the arrested youth is Jeetu Murmu (21). Special sources have revealed that the house of the arrested youth is near the house of the deceased student and he seems to be a distant cousin of the student.
According to the information received from the police, the accused raped the student after drinking alcohol and to destroy the evidence. He was murdered. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 302 and 201. Presenting the accused youth in Malda District Court today, the police demanded to keep him in police custody for seven days
Meanwhile, according to police sources, the police suspect that some other people along with him may also be involved in this murder. Another youth was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident but was released after preliminary interrogation.
